Details: I re-powered this great styled car into something better. The power train is as follows:Engine is a L98 as used in the 89 Corvette. It is Tuned Port Injected and other than the typical external upgrades is stock. The 4 bolt main short block is a new factory one with about 5K on it. The 58cc aluminum Chevy heads are also new with 5K run time. By losing the V-12 Jag engine I gained dependability, more power, better mileage and an engine that parts are cheaper for plus easier to work on. Because the engine package is 300 pounds lighter than the V-12 I fitted XJ6 springs to the front end. The transmission is a 700R4 and it has the good low gear ratios and the overdrive. The 85 Jag only came with a NON- Over Drive 3 speed transmission. The rear is the stock Jaguar independent posi traction 2.88.Engine management is done by a totally dedicated electrical system, which includes its own fuses and wiring. The seats and headliner were done recently by AutoMat. All my extra parts go with this sale, including Factory Jaguar shop manual (4 books)I have saved all my receipts and will include info on the TPI conversion for future reference. Bottom line is that you end up with the quality ride and handling of the Jaguar but with out the problems of the V-12. Details: This rare Jaguar XJS-HE is one of only 2000 cars built by a joint venture of Jaguar and American coach builders Hess & Eisenhardt. It was an experiment in turning the early XJS into a convertible to test the market. The lines with the top up or down are exceptional. This Jaguar is in good condition although modified. A few years ago the V12 engine failed. That engine was professionally changed to a 305 V8 Chevy engine with a 350 Turbomatic transmission adapted with a ´John´s Cars´of Texas conversion kit. This engine and trans has about 75,000. miles. All other parts are Jaguar XJS parts.The car has been owned by the same owner since 1990 and mostly driven in good weather. This head turner looks and drives great.The only outstanding issues, I believe, are that it needs a heater core and the fuel venting system needs a professional solution common to many XJS models. The body has a few small dents, a few rust blisters and needs paint and some loving attention overall. This is a car to be driven.
