Well lets get to the details,,,First my XJ6 is a very graceful swan not a piece of crap. I am the 3rd owner and all of the service documents have been past down to me since from the previous owners. Believe it or not she runs better then most new cars, A inline 4.0 6 cylinder that´s as strong as an ox. She presently have 144,000 mile on the clock.Whats wrong with it?The driver side door handles work is not working.Door locks in back sometime stick in the down position.Headliner sagging a little.All are common problems with old jaguar and can be easily fix. The following parts have been replaced; Front and Rear Tires -shocks- brakes -rotors, seals. All the belts, plus upper and lower radiator hoses, This all the good stuff in maintenance to keep her in great shape.BUT what makes this car special? It´s a beautiful Jaguar XJ6 that´s why!! With styling that make Bentley owners envious, you know you´re driving something special.So with all this being said I´m asking 4,500 which is very reasonable compared to most cars of this age and looks. Details: This is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6 the last year of the classic body style before Ford took over and changed it (for the worse). I have owned this baby for the last 12 years. It was purchased new in Las Vegas from Chaisson Motor Cars, I bought it in Las Vegas from the second owner when it had 85,000 miles on it. I treated it as a collector car and put very few miles on it over the last 10 years (it just went over 100k). It has been mostly garaged except for a couple of years where I was forced to leave it outside, unfortunately the paint suffered and the clear coat peeled. Because it was parked for long periods it developed a minor transmission leak and the A/C doesn´t work. As for the general condition it runs and drives great (so fun to drive, the ride is unbelievable). The body is perfect and of course, coming from Las Vegas, no rust. The interior is also perfect except for a cracked dash pad, easy fix, they are available. This is an unmolested all original classic car that always gets looks as you go by. In mint condition you will find these on ebay going for upwards of $6,000 (if you can find them at all). Details: The Car: This is a beautiful black ´87 Jaguar XJ6 that runs and drives great. 130,000 miles. Drive train in good working condition--starts every time even in the cold. Shifts smoothly. I have been commuting daily in this car round trip 50 miles for months with standard and thoughtful maintenance only. A little rust on the outside but has been an AZ car from purchase until now. Interior could use some upkeep but with seat covers looks good. Notes: This car is running, registered and insured. I pay $4.60 a month for insurance and $20 to register it for 2 years. It´s is currently being driven. There is some work that could be done however. Clean title. Ready to go. Work to be done: Brakes are pretty stiff and need to be looked at--pads are fine--breaks work as they are. There are 2 gas tanks, but the switch is broken to 1. There is an exhaust leak off the manifold that is audible but does not enter the cab. AC compressor is not working thus no AC till it is replaced. Heater works, the blower switch just broke. Any other issues are minor and expected for a 25 year old Jag. Reason I am selling: I love this care and desperately would like to keep it. However I´m way short on money between jobs and have a baby on the way. I am motivated to sell but will not take any low ball offers. Details: There are several other pictures following a detailed description of this classic.I have had this car as a project for over 25 years. There is a total of only about 50 miles of driving on the components since completion earlier this year. Raising kids, moving 7 times and getting into motorcycles ended up making this a start and stop project. My objective was to have a car that is unique, classic but with some modern function that could be used for everyday driving (as much as any 45 year old vehicle might).The core was a 1965 Jaguar 3.8s which is a rare body style. In that year there was a Mk II which was very popular as it was a little shorter and a lower price. It had a solid rear suspension. Then there was the XKE sports car which had independent rear suspension (which has been popular for use in Hot Rods for many years) and the Mark 10 which was the largest Jaguar built and had styling cues used in the XJ6. The 3.8s was targeted for the businessman and had a little larger rear seat and trunk than the Mark II and it had the refinement of the independent rear suspension like the XKE and Mark 10. It had styling of both the Mark II and Mark 10. In the day the 3.8s was a 120 MPH car with the Jaguar straight 6 engine.I started by stripping the body to bare metal and replacing any rusted areas with fresh metal. I wanted to keep the classic look but did not care for the rear fender wells so I modified those to a round look which in my opinion greatly improved the looks. I also had the hood louvered for a hot rod look but also that was done by many Jaguar racing teams. The bare metal was built up with epoxy primer, flat sanded with a long board and the given a base coat/clear coat finish using a GM color called ´torch red´ which was used on Corvettes. The result is a very flat and reflective surfaced, however due to many transports and age of when the paint was done it is not perfect, it looks good however. The original chrome trim was used but some items were re-plated or replaced as needed.The original in line 6 cylinder was replaced with a Chevy 350 (5.7 liter). This engine weighs 150 pounds less than the original. Due to the limited tire size to keep the body intact this engine was only built to produce a mild 275 HP. It started with a remanufactured short block to which was added an Edelbrock polished aluminum intact and a new Quadrajet carburetor, this combination has the potential of delivering up to 30 mpg highway with this light body and the gearing. Block hugger jet coated headers were used with dual exhaust using 2´ pipes for good sound and performance. The original radiator was recored and is cooled by a thermostatic controlled electric fan. Hood louvers and louvers in the lower engine bay reduce heat buildup. Accessories such as the polished alternator and GM power steering are new. Billet crank pulleys were used for looks and most accessory brackets were custom made. The transmission is a stock Chevy 350 automatic. The bell house had been polished and a chrome pans were added to the transmission and engine.The suspension is upgraded stock Jaguar. The front steering was replaced with a later model remanufactured power steering rack and pinion. The rear used the stock coil over shocks (four Koni) but the 3rd member was replaced with a later model Jaguar with only 10,000 original miles. This and the rest of the rear suspension was rebuilt with new seals and bearings. The Jag IRS is very capable of handling the power and has inboard disc brakes. I used a positrac unit with a 270 gear ratio to keep the engine RPM low at highway speeds. The front brakes were the original Jaguar disc brakes which were resleeved with stainless inserts and new calipers.The interior was epoxy sealed and Gatorskin was used for heat and noise control Dynamat was added to the firewall and rear deck area to further insulate sound. Thick jute padding with aluminum on both sides was used under carpet for even greater sound and heat control. Carpet, headliner and door welting were replaced. The original door panels were replaced with new in the same style keeping the character and roll up window. Window tracks and seals were replaced. Windows were tinted. Original seats were retained but new materials used to rebuild and reupholster with cloth inserts for comfort. The original seats have a lot of character including a split front bench with individual arms rest and the ability to adjust the back rest separately for driver and passenger (best of a bench seat and individual buckets). All the original wood was stripped and clear coated to a good gloss (not overdone to keep the character but better than original) that is UV protected. The massive amount of wood for the dash, dash cover, ´B´ Pillars and window surrounds makes this a very unique car. To accommodate air conditioning was a feat since it was never offered by the factory due to space limitations (they put it in the trunk with vents on the rear deck to blow at the back of your head!). First the frame was notched and then reinforcement welded to make room for the compressor (chrome Sanderson unit with a chrome drier and a billet firewall connector). The interior had required some metal cutting and a Hot Rod Air unit was used for both heat and air with an oval billet control switch mounted in a custom console with burl wood veneer to match the dash. Custom vent tubes were built with the end result looking like a stock installation. A car stereo was installed in the consol also as were two polished stainless cup holders. Speaker placement was limited without impacting the stock interior so the lower kick panels were used for directional 6´ speakers and the rear deck for 6x9 speakers. There is plenty of room in the trunk if external amps are desired.HotRod Wiring was used to relocate the fuse panel to a more accessible area and to use modern fuses and relays (GM style wiring and fuse panel). All gauges were replaced with Classic Instruments but retained the large diameter speedo and tachometer.Stock metal wheels were powder coated black. Jag center caps and beauty rings and white wall tires produce a very classic look.As with any project car there are still opportunities for personalization and some items to discuss that would be suggested items to change.
